Turaki of Ilorin congratulates new IEDPU National Excos, as Abdulmalik re-elected as National President

The Turaki of Ilorin and Senator representing Kwara Central, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has congratulated the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdul Mumini Ayo Abdulmalik, on his re-election for another term in office.

Abdulmalik was returned unopposed as the National President of the socio-cultural organisation during the 60th National Conference of the IEDPU, which was held at the Ilorin West Local Government Council Secretariat in Wara, Ilorin, Kwara State.

In the same exercise, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Babatunde Issa Onilu also emerged unopposed for a second term as Vice President of the union, while other members of the newly constituted National Executive Council include Architect Moyosore Usman, who was elected as National Secretary; Dr. Nurudeen Alao and Alhaji Abdullahi Toyin Abubakar, who emerged unopposed as First and Second Assistant National Secretaries, respectively; and Mallam Shuaib Sulaiman, who was elected as Third Assistant National Secretary.

Senator Mustapha attributed the unanimous re-election of the IEDPU leadership to what he described as the remarkable achievements recorded under Alh Abdulmalik’s administration, noting that these accomplishments earned the continued confidence and trust of the people of the emirate.

“The decision of the delegates to return the leadership unopposed is a clear testament to the quality of leadership and the developmental strides recorded by the outgoing executives,” the senator said.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Nasif Sholagebru, the lawmaker congratulated the entire executive council and urged them to consolidate on past gains by initiating and sustaining people-oriented programmes that would further promote unity, cultural heritage, and socio-economic development within the Ilorin Emirate.

Senator Mustapha also called on all sons and daughters of the emirate, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue to support the union in its efforts to advance the collective interest of the community.
